Our Leopard Family is saddened to hear of the passing of Ms. Connie James. She was adored by our students and staff and she loved serving as a substitute teacher for De Queen High School and Junior High. We could always count on her humor to brighten our days and she was a fierce supporter of the Leopards and Lady Leopards. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to her family. Ms. James was one of a kind and we will miss her dearly.

DJHS STUDENT ORLANDO HERNANDEZ WINS ARTWORK COVER
Congratulations to De Queen Junior High 9th Grader Orlando Hernandez!! His art was chosen for the cover of AAE's ARKANSAS ART: SUMMER FUN coloring book! Orlando submitted this statement with his entry “A fine day at the Gillham Lake with laughter and fun.” Orlando chose this image from Mrs. Vallee’s photos and it is a picture of Jenna Farley and Cannon Vallee (cousins)at the Gillham Lake when they were little. DeQueen Junior High and Middle School submitted over 30 entries (all of which we hope will be printed in the coloring book.)
The Arkansas Art Educators (AAE) wanted to showcase students’ original artwork, so they created a coloring book contest. Proceeds from the coloring book will go to support scholarships for those planning to become art educators in Arkansas and for other projects supporting art education in our state. The coloring book will be titled
ARKANSAS ART: SUMMER FUN and will be available for purchase in late May
through Amazon.

The Renew Arkansas campaign is designed to make sure that all eligible Arkansans on Medicaid keep their coverage. As Medicaid renewal letters are going out, you need to do two things: 1. Check your mail – Arkansas Medicaid will mail you a letter about your Medicaid coverage. This letter will also tell you if you need to complete a renewal form to see if you still qualify for Medicaid. 2. Complete your renewal form – Fill out the form and return it to Arkansas Medicaid right away to avoid losing Medicaid coverage if you are eligible. It’s important for Medicaid to have your current mailing address, phone number, and email address so we can make sure you get your Medicaid renewal letter and any other important information. You can update your information on the phone, online, or in person: 1. Call the Renew Arkansas hotline at 1-844-872-2660 2. Go online at access.arkansas.gov Visit your local DHS county office to update your information

On April 4th each year, National School Librarian Day recognizes the professionals who keep the school library in working order. Our Leopard Family is blessed to have a team of School Librarian/Media Specialists who play a crucial role in promoting literacy and learning by encouraging a love of reading, teaching research skills, supporting technology use, serving as Media/Community Liaisons, encouraging and coordinating parent-involvement events, and much much more!! These ladies help make every day a great day to be a Leopard!!! #leopardpride #LeopardFamily

Congratulations to the DHS Quiz Bowl team that won the 5A South Regional tournament on Saturday!! They qualified to participate in the state championship on Saturday, April 1st as a one-seed. Let's also send an extra shoutout to DHS Sophomore Altin Kight who was named regional MVP!! #leopardpride
