De Queen Elementary recently received the Arkansas Sheriff's Association Red Ribbon Grant to purchase items for Red Ribbon Week. Thank you, Arkansas Sheriff's Association! Red Ribbon Week is a national event that encourages students to be drug free. This year's theme is "Be kind to your mind. Live drug free." De Queen Public Schools will observe Red Ribbon Week October 23 - 27. Tuesday, October 24 is Wear Red Day to celebrate making healthy choices.

Autumn Fullerton met her AR goal for the first 9 weeks.
Sophia Hernandez and Jase Bates from Cotten’s Homeroom are “Spot on”! They put their Leopard on the 25 point mark on 5th grades AR board!




Striving for Excellence! Michael Kaious is the first 5th grader to increase AR points from 32 to 50 points. Way to go Michael! Hansel Esquivel in Mrs. Hanney’s homeroom has met his AR goal and joined the AR wall for reaching 25 points. Hansel has already reached 100% fluency in multiplication and division.... A big shout out of THANKS to Domtar! In September DQ librarians attended the De Queen Mena Educational Coop's LMS Fall Forum held in the Ashdown Middle School. During that meeting, those in attendance toured the middle and high school libraries then visited the Domtar Offices where they were surprised with a big donation of books. The donation was in connection to a community literacy outreach program headed by Tammy Waters of Domtar. Thanks so much Tammy and Domtar!
